For more than 80 years, Mid-South Lions Sight and Hearing Service has helped restore sight, hearing, hope, and independence to people throughout Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee.
Since 1942, more than 40,000 men, women, and children have received the precious gift of sight or hearing through our program. Many of the people we serve have no other way to receive the medical care and assistance they need.
Now, we are asking for your help.

CATARACT-A-THON
WAS ACES!
Physicians and residents at the Hamilton Eye Institute (HEI) at the Univeristy of Tennessee Health Science Center donated their time and services to restore sight to patients during the Ivan Marais Cataract-A-Thon on Saturday, June 6, 2026. Through organization, commitment and a lot of hard work, 23 patients, of all ages, walked out of The Hamilton Eye Institute with the gift of restored sight! The all-day outreach event, organized and led by Hamilton Eye Institute residents and the Hamilton Eye Institute Lions Club, provided FREE cataract surgeries to individuals who otherwise could not afford the procedure.

Mid-South Lions is hosting VISITING LIONS WEEKEND and
L. B. BAKER HALL OF HONOR Induction on April 10-11, 2026,
at the Hamilton Eye Institute in Memphis.
On April 10-11, 2026, you can see for yourself how Mid-South Lions works with the medical professionals and facilities at Hamilton Eye Institute in Memphis to make MIRACLES for your
patients.
Beginning at 5 PM on Friday, we’ll have some great food, fun, and fellowship on including food, drinks and games booths from each state, an auction and some other fun fundraising activities plus an
opportunity to visit with Lions from all four states.
And as a special added attraction, we will induct three GREAT Lions into the L. B. Baker Hall of Honor. Dinner will begin at 7 PM in
the Freeman Auditorium and the ceremony will follow.
Past Mid-South Presidents Bill Holbrook and Bill Norris along with long-time supporter and golf tournament sponsor Sam Ware will be inducted. These outstanding men have dedicated their lives to
service and have helped hundreds of patients regain the gift of sight.
Saturday sign-in will begin at 7:30 AM with events starting at 8. Your tour will include our operating room suites, the one-of-a-kind pediatric floor and our research facilities. World-renowned
ophthalmologists and outstanding Lions will lead your tours. For more info go to www.midsouthlions.org We should adjourn about 2 PM. Afterwards we will hold a special in-person meeting of the 2026
USA/Canada Forum Memphis Host Committee. We expect that meeting to last about 90 minutes.
COST FOR THE ENTIRE WEEKEND IS $50 PER PERSON. IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND SATURDAY ONLY, THE COST IS $20 PER PERSON. DRESS IS CASUAL

A block of hotel rooms has been arranged at the Holiday Inn Express at 1180 Union Ave. The rate is $109 plus tax (about $127)

THANKS TO LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION AND MID-SOUTH LIONS, IN COOPERATION WITH ALCON AND THE HAMILTON EYE INSTITUTE SURGERY CENTER, THE FIRST EVER ALCON UNITY SYSTEM HAS BEEN INSTALLED IN HAMILTON EYE INSTITUTE. IT'S THE FIRST OF IT'S KIND IN THAT IT CAN PERFORM CATARACT AND RETINAL SURGERIES.
THIS UNIQUE EQUIPMENT WILL HELP TRAIN OUR RESIDENTS AND HELP OUR SURGEONS PROVIDE THE ABSOLUTE UP-TO-THE-MINUTE BEST SURGICAL CARE TO OUR PATIENTS!

NEW SIGHT SERVICE APPLICATION PROCESS
IN ORDER TO GET THE BEST POSSIBLE RESULTS FOR OUR PATIENTS, THE HEI/UTHSC CLINIC IS PROVIDING SIGHT SERVICE TO OUR PATIENTS WHO REQUIRE SURGERY FOR THREE MONTH INTERVALS FROM THEIR FIRST APPOINTMENT DATE. THE HOPE IS TO COMPLETE THE SURGERIES AND FOLLOW-UP FOR EACH PATIENT WITHIN THAT 90-DAY PERIOD.
CHRONIC CARE PATIENTS WHO REQUIRE LONG-TERM VISION CARE (GLAUCOMA, DIABETIC RETINOPATHY, INJECTIONS, ETC) WILL NOW BE PROVIDED SERVICE THROUGH MID-SOUTH LIONS AND THE MEMPHIS-AREA CHURCH HEALTH CENTER OR OTHER SATELLITE CLINICS.
PL.EASE MAKE SURE YOUR CLUB UNDERSTANDS THAT VISION RE-APPLICATIONS MUST INCLUDE ANOTHER VISIT TO A LOCAL VISION-CARE PROVIDER TO MAKE SURE THE PATIENT REQUIRES FURTHER SURGERY, AND A NEW APPLICATION. WE UNDERSTAND THIS MAY BE MORE OF A BURDEN ON PATIENTS AND SPONSORING LIONS CLUBS, BUT THE NEW CLINIC AGREEMENT SET THE THREE MONTH SERVICE PERIOD.
